Anne-Cécile left home at 22, moving to London to pursue acting, but quickly realizing her true passion lay not in the portrayal of the characters, but in the crafting of the narrative instead. Through various internships and assistant roles, Anne-Cécile taught herself the trade of scriptwriting on-set and even went on to develop a number of original projects that have earned industry recognition, including romantic comedy Dating Up — a Quarterfinalist in the ScreenCraft Comedy Competition and shortlisted for Coverfly Pitch Week — and thriller E-BRAIN, a Quarterfinalist of the Emerging Screenwriters Screenplay Competition. Drawing from her own struggles with self-doubt, shame, and the loneliness we feel when trying to overcome those feelings, Anne-Cécile used her writing to create art that represents the complexities of a woman’s anxiety in sharing her own lived experiences.

Never one to sit still, Anne-Cécile did what any great protagonist does to further their inspiration, and changed scenes. In 2017 she made the move from London to Barcelona, drawn to the city’s sun-soaked streets, vibrant creativity, and promise of a fresh start. Within two years she had learned Spanish and received a new writing credit—this time as the author behind her first novel, You Pull Me In (2019), a psychological thriller reflecting her experience surviving coercive control. The book marked Anne-Cécile’s first glimpse at how storytelling can serve as a powerful tool for healing. After years spent overcoming her own self-esteem issues, Anne-Cécile finally felt empowered to seize her chance to rewrite her own narrative.
