When Laura, a buttoned-up professional, starts hallucinating a giant penis at work, her spiralling reactions reveal the absurd double standards around sex and shame that still dominate women’s lives — at the office, and in bed.

The Penis Conundrum is a sharp, surreal comedy that follows Laura, a woman who appears composed on the outside but is privately grappling with unspoken sexual desires and deep-seated shame. After encountering a disturbingly large bulge during a routine work meeting, her imagination runs wild, triggering a panic that spills from the boardroom into her private life. What unfolds is a hilariously uncomfortable journey through sexual repression, emotional disconnection, and the societal scripts women are still expected to follow.
This short film uses visual comedy, surrealism, and a bold central metaphor to explore how women are policed around sexuality; first by others, and then by themselves. It speaks directly to female audiences who have ever felt ashamed, silenced, or “too much”, and uses humour as a catalyst for empathy and honest conversation.

“I wrote The Penis Conundrum following a day when sex was on my mind and I felt a little alone
because I had no idea how normal or odd my desires were because we, as women, rarely discuss them. In a world where society ruthlessly labels women as ‘whores’, ‘good girls’, or ‘crazy’, it can be scary to dare express our desires even in intimate settings. So, I felt that it would be a great topic to explore. Besides, we have seen plenty of boob jokes or slapstick comedy from a male perspective, but we rarely see comedies about what turns women on.”

PROTAGONIST

At home, her longing for genuine connection is stifled by fear of judgement. This complex role demands an experienced actress who can navigate deep emotional and comedic layers, expertly portraying the internal conflict of a woman wrestling to express her true self, while hinting at the broader challenges women face.

‘PENIS GUY’
Laura’s colleague, informally dubbed ‘Penis Guy,’ represents the sexual desires that Laura suppresses and fears. His presence ignites her urge to flee, not from him but from her ow challenging desires.
This role suits an actor with a strong social media influence or an influencer with acting ambitions, ideally someone like Miguel Angel Silvestre, who has solid acting skills and a passion for feminism or supporting women's and LGBTQ issues. LAURA’S BOYFRIEND

This role demands an actor with excellent comedic timing to portray the complexity of a man grappling with both women’s emotions and his own insecurities.
