Opinion: We Need Urgent Legislation on AI

Back in 2022, when I was learning about AI, I saw those ads about AI generated ‘faceless Avatars.’

“You don’t have to appear on video!” Then, it went from generic humans to why don’t you provide your likeness? This way, you’ll never have to shoot a video ever again!

AI writes and acts in your voice. That is such a scam - truly. Our voice and writing constantly change and evolve - or die as generic AI slop.

But I’m digressing; scammers, Russia, and now greedy entrepreneurs use struggling actors’ likeness for political propaganda - against their will.

It boggles the mind that we didn’t put safeguards in place after the Cambridge Analytica scandal. We’re now four years into the widespread release of AI, and there’s still no legislation to protect our likeness or to ensure we truly know what’s real and what isn’t.

And legislation is now more urgent than ever.
